Why you should start using The StoryGraph!

As you might have noticed, I love to read. But if there's one thing I enjoy almost as much as reading, it's tracking the books I've read and seeing what my friends are reading. I'm currently in my third year of keeping a book journal and love tracking my books that way. However, I also like having all the books I've read at hand in an app on my phone. So what's the best app for tracking your books? Is it Goodreads or The StoryGraph? After using both simultaneously for the past few months, I've got the answer.

The far superior book-tracking app is, without a doubt, The StoryGraph. Here are my reasons why.

The StoryGraph importing goodreads data

—Before you stop reading because you don't want to import all your Goodreads data, know that The StoryGraph offers a special option to import all of your Goodreads data at once, making the switch much easier ;)—

Book Statistics

I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to graphics and reading. I love them, and one of the best things about The StoryGraph is that the app automatically creates graphics about the books you've read, DNF'd, and have on your TBR! It tracks genres, book moods, the number of books and pages you've read per month, and your star ratings. (Bonus: you can give half and even quarter ratings!) But they offer much more than just those stats—you even have the option to view monthly, yearly, and all-time stats!

If you want even more stats and data, you also have the option of creating custom stats with the app's plus version! Let me know if you want me to write a separate blog post on whether The StoryGraph plus version is worth it. Below are some stats I've created in the plus version.

Book information

The StoryGraph offers much more book information than Goodreads. For instance, the information is clearer, and you can switch between different formats and editions of books very easily. It also shows you the book's mood (which is great for us mood readers). And it gives you the option to view the book's trigger warnings. (Want to read more about my Poppy War review click here)

Monthly wrap-ups

We all love a good yearly wrap-up, like the Spotify one we're all waiting for. But what if I told you that you can have a reading wrap-up every month? That's right, The StoryGraph offers monthly reading wrap-ups, complete with a calendar! And if you think this is awesome, just wait until you see the yearly wrap up ;)

Indie owned

It's no secret that Goodreads is owned by Amazon and hasn't been updated in ages. Goodreads is poor at implementing customer feedback. The app is very outdated, hard to navigate, and it's nearly impossible to become friends with people without sending a link (or if it is possible, it's too hard to figure out). So it's time to switch to an app that constantly implements user feedback, releases new updates, and is owned by people who love books as much as we do.

The StoryGraph is truly a reading app owned by readers instead of billionaires

The makers of The StoryGraph have an open roadmap where users can see directly what's going to happen in the app, which functions are coming, etc. But most importantly, readers can offer their own ideas and vote on other ideas. The StoryGraph also gives a lot of updates on their Instagram.

If I haven't convinced you after all this to ditch Goodreads and join us on The StoryGraph, there are even more amazing features for you to explore on your own. And if you—like me—love TSG and want to convince your friends to start using it as well, send them this blog; I'll convince them for you ;)

But as a little treat, down here are some more of the amazing features The StoryGraph offers her readers. <3
